Dr Ian Smith Urology

Dr Ian Smith is a urological surgeon in Tamworth, NSW and Armidale NSW. He obtained his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the field of Urology. His skill set has contributed to the already high quality Urology service in the region, ensuring Urology in the New England Area will remain a strong asset to this community.


He graduated from Medicine at Sydney University in 2004 and undertook his specialist training in Urology within Australia, participating in rotations in major teaching hospitals in Sydney, as well as regional centres.


He spent 2015 in Victoria developing his laparoscopic surgery skills. These include robotic surgery,

laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, and pyeloplasty. He has extensive training in all benign and malignant urological practice, including prostate cancer, lower urinary tract symptoms, and kidney stones. Dr Smith also provides procedures at the Chris O'Brien Life House Cancer center in Sydney and St George Private Hospital in Sydney.


Dr Ian Smith is a member of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and The Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is currently credentialed to practice at Tamworth Base Hospital, Tamara Private, Armidale Public Hospital, Armidale Private Hospital, Linguard Private hospital, Newcastle, Chris O'Brien Life House and St George Private Hospital - Sydney.
